This article in the Wall Street Journal on Friday, December 2, relates to the increasing claims on joblessness in Spain, a country that has been fluctuating in and out of a recession since 2008.  The increasing unemployment has been due to employment cuts in both the private sector and the public sector, as the government attempts to address the countries growing budget deficit.  This method is much faster than the other option, which would be to create a successful exporting sector to help reduce the deficit, although this could take many more years.
