The End of Men

This is an article about the ever growing presence of women in the work force. It states that for the first time women make up the majority of the workforce in the US. In addition, far more women are currently in college than are men. The article goes on to discuss the difference in efficiency of women versus men in the workforce. In class, we discussed that in 1970, two things occurred at once: women entered the workforce and the average worker became less efficient. Although we made it clear that these two phenomena were unrelated, it still seemed a bit suspicious. However this article relieves those suspicions saying that, if anything, women are more productive than men. The use data such as the study that found that the most productive firms are the ones that regularly promote women.
